One in five Iraq and Afghanistan veterans suffers from Posttraumatic
Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Major Depression (2008, Rand Corporation
Report). The effects of PTSD and Depression include relationship and
family disruptions, difficulty working, sleeplessness, substance
abuse, and suicide. According to The International Society for
Traumatic Stress Studies, Eye Movement Desensitization and
Reprocessing (EMDR) is one of the "grade A" trauma treatments.
The Northern California VA's currently do not offer EMDR,
which Veterans Resource believes is particularly suitable for
veterans. Veterans Resource also understands that veterans are often
reluctant to seek help through the VA. Veterans Resource provides
donation-based EMDR therapy to veterans suffering from PTSD in the San
Francisco Bay Area in a safe and confidential setting. Veterans
Resource clinicians are certified by the EMDR International
Association (emdria.org).

"EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is the most revolutionary, important method to emerge in psychotherapy in decades."
