Veterans Resource was founded in March of 2006 in response to the need for more specialized mental health services for returning combat veterans.

Now Versus Then

What Has Changed?

Since returning from your tour(s), things have changed. You know that you love your family, but things are different. You can't really feel how much you love them. You know that your children want you home, but you feel numb, or angry, or just aren't connecting. Sometimes maybe you're not even sure how to act. You know that your spouse or partner loves you and needs you, but you can't seem to get away from what you experienced over there and back into your life here at home.

This is not uncommon. It's hard to switch back and fourth, especially if you have more than one tour. If you notice that you are taking risks that you wouldn't want your child or a younger sibling to take just to feel alive, or numbing out with alcohol or drugs not feel your feelings, then you are having a normal reaction to what you experienced...The problem comes up when you can't snap out of it...it's hard to make the switch back to your life, because you've changed. We can help you deal with this. We want to help you come back.
